Joy Angelia Wade, 66, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Lexington on April 29, 1956, a daughter of the late Earnest Wade and Dorothy Potter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Freddie Potter and sister, Hope Wade.

Left to cherish her memory is her significant other of 15 years, Lee Myers of Stuarts Draft; daughter, Chessie Lyle and spouse, Nick of Stuarts Draft; grandchild, Phoenix Lyle; sister, Shirley Coffey and husband, Donnie of Waynesboro; nephew, Dylan Coffey of Waynesboro; special friend and “sister”, Terry Stinespring; her fur baby, Zoe. She also leaves behind her extended family at Virginia Panel.

Joy graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1975. She retired from Virginia Panel after 45 years of faithful service. Spending time with her family, gardening, antiquing, and playing with her dog, Zoe was a few of her favorite hobbies.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 6pm until 8pm at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home.

A private service will be held at McElwee Chapel Cemetery in Rockbridge Baths.

Memorial donations may be made in Joy’s memory to Spay/Neuter INC Animal Rescue, 434 Dooms Crossing Rd., Waynesboro, VA 22980.
